All pieces in the Studio are the work of Nancy Talbot and Tori Yattaw, who are also mother/daughter, respectively. The space evolved after many, many creative years and the dream to eventually display and sell their work. It was a chance both were ready to undertake.
Nancy spent many years creating intricate, hand sewn quilts. With great patience, many extraordinary pieces were created. She crafted wall hangings with either designs or themes and of course, spectacular bedding quilts. From her interest in designing patterns, she naturally began stained glassing. Once again, her patience, eye for color and texture, and the ability to design patterns have helped create the exquisite panels hanging in the Studio today. She has a passion for her work which is reflected in the hundreds of hours spent on each piece.
Tori completes the remainder of art in the Studio. It is a blend of linens, pillows, totes/clutches, apparel, wall art and pottery ~ all handmade and of original design. She works in all media - clay, oils, watercolors, pen and ink, charcoal and textiles. She is a self-taught artist who enjoys exploring new media and creating pieces based on customer feedback and her own personal interests. A great fan of Georgia O'Keefe, her oversized floral oils make a statement in contrast to the charcoals you will find framed in flea market finds. A personal favorite is her "Ship to Shore" bag line. Her dad and husband, both fishermen, inspired the hand-painted totes with many nautical themes. Her husband, Chris, hand-splices the rope handles for the final touch. The end result is a beautiful, classic and usable piece of art.
The vibrant space has a feeling of cohesiveness as it effortlessly blends the various media and styles. Expect the unexpected.
